Meet Carly!

Carly is clinic owner and manager here at Altea. She graduated from the University of Manitoba, her hometown, in 2011. How did she end up in Prince George you may ask? Well, Jonathan her husband, partner in crime, and fellow physiotherapist met in university and the mountains called her name and Prince George has been home ever since.

She received her acupuncture certification from the Acupuncture foundation of Canada in 2013 and has taken many orthopedic courses over the years to hone her skills as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist. A huge passion of hers has been vestibular (dizzy) therapy and she received her certification in 2017 at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.

More about carly

When did you decide you wanted to become a physiotherapist?

I was a competitive dancer (ballet and jazz) for over 16 years. I was in and out of physio a lot growing up. When I was 17, I fractured my lumbar spine (stress fracture) and was unable to dance for an entire year. The physiotherapists I went to made it possible for me to return to dance and continue doing the thing I loved most at the time. I wanted to opportunity to be able to give that gift to other people.

What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends?

In the winter, Otway is my happy place. I could spend all day out there. Right now, being pulled behind my skis way to get our daughter Elle (2 and a half) to take naps. In the summer, I love mountain biking and hiking, but since having 2 kids back-to-back those sports have taken a back seat. Our new favourite sport is biking around Prince George, the centennial trail is our favourite, with Logan (4) and Elle along for the ride. We recently got a tent trailer and canoe we love too!
